Methodology

Data is from the January 2020 Smartly.io report titled "Social Advertising Trends in Retail: A 2020 Perspective" in partnership with WBR Insights and eTail. 100 US retail marketers were surveyed via telephone during November 2019. All worked for companies with annual revenues of $200+ million and represented a company that currently spends money on social advertising. The respondents worked in the following retail sectors: apparel (23%), department stores (10%), entertainment/food/travel (8%), hardware/electronics/appliances (13%), home furnishing (13%), specialty retail (11%), sporting goods (11%), supermarkets (6%) and toys/hobbies (5%). Smartly.io is a social media advertising automation platform.
