Methodology

Data is from a May 2021 The Economist Intelligence Unit report titled "Digimentality 2021: Digital Currency From Fear to Inflection"." 3,053 adults age 18+ from 11 countries were surveyed during February-March 2021. Various educational backgrounds are represented, with the largest numbers of respondents (five in ten) having a college or professional degree. All respondents had bought a product or service within the past 12 months using some kind of digital payment. Additionally, 200 institutional investors worldwide were surveyed during Februrary-April 2021. About a third of respondents are US-based with the remainder spread across the advanced economies of Australia, China, France, Germany, Singapore, and the UK. All survey takers were familiar with their organization’s investment decision-making processes. The survey is representative of the general population ages 18+.
