The news: Ad-supported streaming services (AVOD) are gaining increased adoption as consumers seek to cut subscription costs, per new research from Parks Associates.
The study, which surveyed 8,000 US internet households, found that 57% of users across leading platforms—including Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu—now subscribe to ad-supported tiers.
Roughly 25% of these subscribers chose AVOD to save money, while a similar percentage were drawn by promotional offers or bundled services.
