Most Gen Z and Millennials Take Medical Advice From Social Media, Even Over That of a Provider (% of US consumers who have seen health-related info on social media, by generation, Dec 2024)
Methodology
Data is from the January 2025 EMARKETER Survey titled "US Digital Health 2024." 1,312 US consumers ages 15-79 were surveyed during December 4-17, 2024. The survey was conducted to gauge consumers' behaviors, attitudes, and experiences related to the discovery and research process for digital health products and services. It identifies the channels for seeking health information and provider reviews, the settings where healthcare services are accessed, and the factors influencing consumers' decision-making and behavior. Respondents are consumers who have conducted research for medical information online. The respondents were selected to closely align with the US population on the criteria of age (among ages 15 to 79), gender, household income, and race. The survey was fielded by a third-party sample provider. Data has a margin of error of +/-2.7 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
