Comparison of US Disposable & Discretionary Income Among Select Demographic Groups, 2014

Methodology

Data is from the April 2018 American Institutes for Research (AIR) report titled "A Hidden Market: The Purchasing Power of Working-Age Adults With Disabilities" based on the US Census Bureau. AIR calculated disposable and discretionary income estimates using data from the Census Bureau's 2014 "American Community Survey." The analysis used 6 types of disability as categorized in the ACS: vision difficulty, hearing difficulty, self-care difficulty, ambulatory difficulty, cognitive difficulty and independent living difficulty. To focus on the working-age population, AIR limited its sample to ages 16-64. AIR is a non-profit behavioral and social science research organization.
