Methodology

Data is from the August 2022 AdImpact "2022 Midterm Projections Spending Report." Information is based on a model built to project spending at the individual race level and these figures are used to reach their topline conclusions. Spending levels in a race correlated strongly with the competitiveness of a seat and AdImpact collects electoral ad spending and occurrences from the federal to the local level.
