Methodology

Data is from a May 2021 Thorn report titled "Responding to Online Threats: Minors' Perspectives on Disclosing, Reporting, and Blocking." 2,002 US children and teens ages 9-17, including 742 ages 9-12, and 1,260 ages 13-17 were surveyed online during October 25-November 11, 2020. Data was weighted be representative to age, gender, race, and geography, and parents/caretakers had to provide consent. Thorn is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building technology to defend children from sexual abuse.
