Roblox expands rewarded video tools for creators and advertisers

The news: Roblox hinted at an expansion of its rewarded video ad format tools at the Roblox Developers Conference, which lets creators monetize placements that players watch in exchange for in-game rewards.

The tease follows other planned updates to rewarded video, including no-code placements and AI streamlining:

  • Roblox plans to release a Studio plug-in during Q4 2026 that will let creators use drag-and-drop 2D and 3D templates.
  • The company is introducing a rewarded video surface that runs before gameplay starts, giving creators a way to test how and where rewarded video placements work.
  • Roblox will eventually offer a multi-reward option that lets creators rotate multiple rewards in a single video placement, with reporting for each reward.

Why it matters: Roblox’s updates show it wants to lower barriers to entry for creators and brands looking to spend money on the platform as part of its ongoing effort to build an ads business and capitalize on gaming’s high-attention ad formats.

  • Rewarded gaming ads influence consumer sentiment: 2025 Attest data found that 41.4% of US gamers said ads that offer rewards are more acceptable.
  • 65% of US marketers agree that users prefer rewarded ads over non-rewarded formats, and 46.3% say these ads make users feel more in control of their ad experience, per an EMARKETER and Discord survey.
