Meta debuts ad options for Reels, Threads amid possible upheaval

The news: Meta announced new ad options at its Brand Building Summit, focused on Reels and innovative ad formats for Threads, per a blog post.

Among the updates:

  • Expanded access to Reels trending ads, letting more brands place ads near brand-safe, popular Reels content for greater exposure. Initial tests boosted unaided awareness up to 20%.
  • New ad options on Threads like 4:5 rendering for video and single-image ads, carousel ads, and upcoming tests of Advantage+ catalog ads. Brands without Threads accounts can run Threads ads using Facebook and Instagram posts.
  • Ad targeting updates, allowing brands to apply value rules for awareness and engagement objectives to scale connections with core audiences via Meta’s AI. Early testers saw twice as many high-value conversions.
  • Landing page view optimization, with Meta adding features to optimize traffic ads toward audiences most likely to click and load the destination site. Tests showed 31% lower cost per view, reduced bounce rates, and higher-quality traffic.
