Adult print readers are individuals who read newspapers or magazines at least once per month. Adult newspaper readers are individuals who read newspapers at least once per month. Adult magazine readers are individuals who read magazines at least once per month. Adult radio listeners are individuals who listen to radio at least once per month; includes terrestrial AM/FM radio and satellite radio; excludes digital radio. Adult desktop/laptop internet users are individuals who use the internet from a desktop/laptop at least once per month. Adult smartphone users are individuals who own at least one smartphone and use the phone(s) at least once per month. Adult tablet users are individuals who use a tablet at least once per month. Adult feature phone users are individuals who own at least one feature phone and use the phone(s) at least once per month. Adult viewers of digital video are internet users of any age who watch streaming or downloaded video content via any device at least once per month. Smartphones are any voice handset with an advanced operating system (e.g., Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Windows Phone, etc.) and features/capabilities that resemble a PC. Tablets are touchscreen devices with a color display ranging 5-14 inches, a Wi-Fi connection or mobile data plan and an advanced operating system such as Android, BlackBerry, iOS or Windows. Though some have detachable keyboards, touch is the primary interface. Excludes devices with a cellular voice connection. Examples include Amazon Kindle Fire, Apple iPad, Google Nexus 7 or 10, Microsoft Surface and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Methodology: Estimates are based on the analysis of survey and traffic data from research firms and regulatory agencies, historical trends and demographic adoption trends.
