TikTok’s agentic AI strategy points to a new era of ad tech

The news: TikTok is betting that the future of ad tech will shift more toward agentic AI that can connect systems, recommend actions, and help execute workflows, not just generate content—highlighting a broader move from AI-assisted marketing to AI-enabled action across the ad industry.

The company introduced TikTok Agentic Hub in June, a marketplace for AI-powered advertising tools built on the TikTok for Business Model Context Protocol (MCP).

  • Agentic Hub offers first- and third-party AI Skills to streamline daily marketing tasks, including performance analysis, audience insights, and catalog and product management.
  • The Hub aims to reduce manual work by assessing large amounts of data and devising insights and actionable recommendations based on those findings.
  • Developers can create AI ad tools that link AI agents with TikTok Ads, then make them available to advertisers across TikTok’s ecosystem.

TikTok’s global head of ads platform and agency business, Qing Lan, highlighted early traction from partners like HubSpot, Innovid, and Wix, which have already released AI skills for tasks like reporting, diagnostics, and campaign management.

The shift: Marketers are moving beyond genAI creative alone, using agentic tools that can both support content creation and act independently to drive business outcomes.

Agentic AI supports several functions:

  • Marketers who have adopted the tool use it for continuous learning agents (47%), performance reporting and analysis (45%), and customer journey optimization (34%) among other purposes, per SAS.
  • Half of US marketing agencies use agentic AI for campaign execution, per Forrester and 4As data cited by MediaPost, showing how quickly these capabilities are moving from experimentation to adoption.

Agentic AI enables quicker, real-time decision-making and campaign execution—critical in a competitive and fast-paced digital advertising landscape. It can also automate end-to-end campaign workflows, including planning, negotiation, buying, and execution of media sales, reducing manual effort and boosting efficiency.

Implications for marketers: Agentic tools reduce the need for intermediaries by automating negotiations and transactions. That could lower costs and improve transparency during ad buying, making them especially appealing as marketers look for more integrated, lower-friction buying environments.

TikTok’s agentic approach reflects the larger industry shift—AI is becoming less about content generation alone and more about connecting strategy, execution, and measurement in one system.

Use agentic AI to reduce manual work, improve performance, and make campaign management more seamless across the funnel.
