Reddit’s Shopify rollout is a step toward its ecommerce ambitions

The news: Reddit has rolled out its Shopify integration globally after initial testing in March, furthering its efforts to become an ecommerce destination.

The expansion will allow merchants to deploy ad campaigns using Reddit’s Dynamic Product Ads (DPA) offering, which uses machine learning and user discussions to create personalized ad experiences. The Shopify integration is designed to make it easier for advertisers to set up catalogs and Pixels while reducing friction in the DPA onboarding process.

Reddit pushes into retail: The platform is positioning itself as a shopping discovery engine built around user intent; its Shopify rollout is one piece of a broader commerce strategy that spans ad formats and AI offerings.

  • Reddit offers ad formats like Collection Ads, which pair lifestyle hero images with shoppable product tiles in a single carousel, and Community and Deal Overlays to highlight products gaining traction on Reddit.
  • Beyond DPA, the social platform provides a suite of AI capabilities, including an updated search feature that pairs community recommendations with shoppable results and an AI trend detection tool that scans user discussions to help advertisers identify emerging trends and create campaign concepts.

Early results of Reddit’s commerce efforts are promising:

  • Reddit reported a 40% YoY increase in high-intent shopping conversations in March, and 84% of Reddit users say the platform boosts their purchase confidence. Advertisers using Collection Ads have already seen an 8% lift in return on ad spend when following best practices, per Reddit.
