A new genAI commercial tool shows the tech’s progress—and pitfalls

The news: Video production company Lemonlight’s new generative AI advertising tools reflect the technology’s growing popularity with marketers. The company announced a genAI commercial product that creates finished, commercial-quality videos to produce content in days at up to 60% lower cost and 50% faster than traditional methods.

  • The tool includes features like full pre-production support for scripting, strategy, and storyboarding; AI voiceover and character integration within real-world settings; hybrid production capabilities to merge genAI elements with live-action content; and professional producer oversight to guarantee brand alignment.
  • GenAI commercials bridge the gap between the pressure to produce ad content at scale with advertisers’ concerns over AI by “combining AI’s speed and efficiency with expert human oversight, enabling enterprise brands to finally scale video without compromise,” said Lemonlight CEO Hope Horner.

Addressing concerns: AI is emerging as a core part of the advertising process, with genAI for content creation leading as the top video advertising use case for marketers. But despite rapid adoption, several concerns remain: 54% of marketers worldwide worry about a loss of creativity and human touch when AI is relied on, while the majority of consumers share a similar fear. Lemonlight’s newest feature aims to curb this trend by balancing AI’s efficiency with human insight.
