The news:Italy’s antitrust agency launched an investigation into the Dublin-based company that operates Shein’s website and app over potentially misleading environmental claims, per The Wall Street Journal.
The Italian Competition Authority’s probe is centered on the “generic, vague, confusing, and/or misleading” environmental claims on the “#SHEINTHEKNOW,” “evoluSHEIN” and “Social Responsibility” sections of Shein’s website.
For example, it is examining whether the so-called sustainable fashion line "evoluSHEIN" gives consumers false impressions about the amount of environmentally friendly fabrics used and how it neglects to note the garments are not recyclable.
