How Google’s $32 billion Wiz deal could reshape the cloud security and AI markets

The news: Alphabet is acquiring New York-based cloud security startup Wiz for $32 billion, eclipsing its previous largest purchase of Motorola for $12.5 billion in 2011. The acquisition is expected to close in 2026 pending regulatory approval, per Reuters. 

Wiz offers prevention, detection, and response across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle clouds. Google plans to integrate its risk-detection tools into Google Cloud to meet growing AI security demand.
