Consumers trim travel budgets amid rising costs

Key stat: 20% of US adults say they’ve traveled or will travel less than planned due to the economy, according to a May survey by The Points Guy and The Harris Poll.

Beyond the chart:

  • The average summer trip budget among US adults has decreased 25.4% since 2024, per a Europ Assistance survey.
  • Early booking discounts are the most appealing promotions for adults worldwide across vacation rentals (47%), hotels (45%), and transportation and activities (41%), according to a March Expedia Group survey.
