The news:Starting March 28, all Alexa requests made on Echo devices will be sent to Amazon’s servers.
The company is removing Alexa’s “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” option and will leverage user data to improve the generative AI (genAI) features on its upcoming Alexa+ voice assistant, per an email to Echo users.
This will apply to all Echo users, even those who don’t subscribe to Alexa+, per Ars Technica.
