The trend: We attended the recent Fierce Pharma Week conference, where speakers noted that the shift to hyperpersonalized pharma marketing is being driven by AI becoming a standard part of marketing workflows and pressure to match experiences from consumer sites like Amazon.
Pharma companies described how they are putting hyperpersonalized AI workflows into practice:
Why it matters: More data and AI tools make personalization easier to execute, but they don’t solve the harder question of whether each interaction is useful.
That challenge shows up more broadly among healthcare marketers. Sixty-nine percent of healthcare marketers say timing, or knowing when HCPs are ready to make a decision, is their biggest challenge when trying to understand how to engage with them online. Another 62% say knowing what content will resonate, according to a February 2026 report from Medical Marketing + Media (MM+M) and Multiview based on 2025 survey data. Twenty percent of respondents were pharma marketers.
Implications for pharma marketers: The real power of personalization isn’t about collecting more data, but capturing actionable patient signals that uncover content gaps. J&J said its conversational AI, for example, surfaced that patients on third-line treatments were still asking basic questions about their conditions. The advantage comes from using insights like those to improve patient experiences and sharpen strategy, focusing on data that actually drive decisions.
