Methodology
Data is from the September 2026 EMARKETER AI Visibility Index. In September 2026, EMARKETER analyzed 3,210 ChatGPT recommendations and 3,210 Google Gemini recommendations in response to US-based interactions across 8 media and entertainment categories: on-demand video streaming, live TV streaming, cable TV, music streaming, podcasts, audiobooks, digital news subscriptions, and gaming subscriptions. Each interaction asked ChatGPT and Google Gemini for product recommendations using standardized prompts (e.g., "best free on-demand video streaming service," "music streaming service for new releases"). Prompts varied by product type, product attribute, consumer need, target audience, and price tier to capture a representative range of consumer questions for each category. Combined figures weight each tool's data by the number of monthly US users EMARKETER forecasts it will have in 2026 (ChatGPT 118.4 million; Google Gemini 89.6 million).Chart Title
