Methodology

Data is from the December 2017 RBC Capital Markets report titled "Internet Social Butterflies: Highlights from Our Third Social Media Survey." 4,914 US internet users were surveyed online via SurveyMonkey in December 2017. Respondents identified their ages as 13-18 (1.18%), 19-25 (14%), 26-35 (19.4%), 36-50 (26.2%) and 51+ (38.5%), Respondents were female (52.7%) and male (47.3%). Respondents identified their household income as $0-$9,999 (8.5%), $10,000-$24,999 (11.4%), $25,000-$49,999 (19%), $50,000-$74,999 (14.9%), $75,000-$99,999 (11.6%), $100,000-$124,999 (7.9%), $125,000-$149,999 (3.9%), $150,000-$174,999 (2.9%), $175,000-$199,999 (1.9%), $200,000 and up (4.7%) and prefer not to answer (13.4%). Respondents identified their device type as iOS phone/tablet (20.7%), Android phone/tablet (17.2%), Windows desktop/laptop (50.5%), Mac OS desktop/laptop (9.5%) and other (2%).
