Data is from the May 2017 Burson-Marsteller "Twiplomacy Study 2017." 856 Twitter accounts belonging to heads of state, government entities and foreign ministers in 178 countries worldwide were analyzed on May 22, 2017 using Burson-Marsteller's proprietary Burson Tools. Other variables considered included: tweets, following, followers, date the user joined Twitter, tweets per day, retweets, percent of retweets, @replies, percent of @replies, tweets retweeted and average number of tweets retweeted. Burson-Marsteller also used Crowdtangle.com to capture the historic data for all accounts including the total interactions (likes and retweets), interaction rates and all video views and posts over the past 12 months.
