The news: Meta is building on its WhatsApp messaging ad options, expanding opportunities for brands to show up in WhatsApp statuses after an initial introduction in June. Advertisers can now display promotions between full-screen user updates with click-to-message ads linking directly to status updates rather than DM-exclusive options.
The expanded format will be visible in WhatsApp’s updates tab rather than available in personal call and message tabs, and will allow a user to click on an ad and be directed into a chat with a brand via WhatsApp. Users can also initiate the process via Instagram or Facebook.
