Walmart taps genAI, AR to deliver personalized shopping experiences

The news: Walmart is using artificial intelligence, generative AI (genAI), and augmented reality (AR) to deliver personalized, engaging shopping experiences across its stores, apps, and platforms like Roblox and Zepeto.

Meeting shoppers’ needs: The initiatives are part of Walmart’s adaptive retail strategy as it looks to deliver “profoundly personal experiences” regardless of how and where customers choose to shop.

  • Walmart plans to roll out personalized homepages tailored to each individual shopper in the US by the end of next year, using a combination of genAI and other AI tools to make the online experience “as personalized as stepping into a store designed exclusively for each customer.”
