Starbucks wants to reestablish itself as a ‘third place’

The focus: Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol aims to revive the struggling coffee chain’s business by making its cafes more inviting while speeding up service, per Barron's.

He told shareholders that the company aims to be the go-to spot both for people looking to connect and those needing a quick, convenient break. “And the good news is we have the ability to do both. We just have to bring order to how we do it.”

The third place: Marking a sharp pivot from its recent focus on to-go service, the company aims to reestablish Starbucks as a welcoming “third place” where people gather and connect.
