Spotify leads US digital audio competition by more than 50 million listeners

Key stat: Spotify has nearly twice as many US listeners as the next most popular digital audio platform, Amazon Music, at 103.6 million compared to 53.1 million, per our September 2024 forecast.

Beyond the chart:

  • Almost three in 10 people in the US (30.3%) are Spotify listeners, per our September 2024 forecast, and that share will slowly grow through the end of our forecast period in 2028.
  • Spotify’s competitors will have trouble approaching the audio giant, since users tend to subscribe to only one service and growth for first-time listeners is slow.

Use this chart: Marketers can use this chart to pitch exclusive audio content creation partnerships, determine audio ad budgets, and make the case for investing in digital audio due to its large listener base.

Related EMARKETER reports:

Note: Pandora listeners include Stitcher listeners.

Methodology: Estimates are based on the analysis of survey and web traffic data from research firms and regulatory agencies, historical trends, and country-specific demographic and socioeconomic factors.
