Spotify partners with The Trade Desk to launch a supply-side platform

The news: Spotify is launching its own supply-side ad platform (SSP), per Axios. Internally referred to as Spotify Ad Exchange (SAX), the service will initially offer video ad inventory before expanding to audio.

  • Spotify’s first demand-side partner for SAX is The Trade Desk, one of the largest US demand-side platforms (DSP). Testing with The Trade Desk began last week, and the platform’s North American clients will be connected with Spotify’s inventory.
  • The partnership also means Spotify will be using Unified ID 2.0, The Trade Desk’s post-cookie privacy-oriented tracking solution.
