Nearly half of US consumers spent more than $2,500 on online shopping this year

Key stat: 23.8% of US consumers say they’ve spent between $2,500 to $5,000 on online shopping throughout the year, per June 2024 data by Narvar. Another 22.6% spent upward of $5,000.

Beyond the chart:

  • 46% of consumers say they make an online purchase at least once per week, the same Narvar report found.
  • Retail ecommerce sales will grow 8.7% this year, more than four times the rate of physical retail at 1.8%, per our July 2024 forecast.

Use this chart: Marketers and retailers can use this chart to illustrate the importance of a strong digital retail strategy, by enhancing the online experience or investing in mobile ad channels, for example.

Methodology: Data is from the August 2024 Narvar report “2024 State of Returns.” 1,924 US consumers ages 18-75 were surveyed during June 2024.
