The news:Google Wallet enhanced its travel features in an effort to improve its utility, per a press release.
The company will soon let consumers save their US passports as a digital ID in their wallets. The feature is in beta testing and works at select TSA checkpoints for domestic flights.
Google is also bringing its state-issued ID capabilities to Iowa, New Mexico, and Ohio. And it’s expanding its network of places that will accept the digital IDs.
It’s also integrating more transit cards. In the US, users can add select prepaid commuter benefit cards to the wallet. This feature is also coming to Germany and Hong Kong.
