Gen Z prefers people over pure AI

Key stat: Worldwide Gen Z interns at Goldman Sachs favor no AI over AI-only assistance across most categories, with 54% rejecting AI altogether in creative work, according to an August Goldman Sachs survey.

Beyond the chart:

  • More than half (53%) of US adults say increased AI use will harm their ability to think creatively, according to a June Pew Research Center survey.
  • Gen Z uses AI to help with a purchase more than any other generation (61%), according to a September Paypal survey.

Use this chart: Marketers can use this chart to avoid heavy AI in creative work when targeting Gen Z, and instead use it in channels where they’re more receptive, like shopping.

Related EMARKETER reports:

Methodology: Data is from the September 2025 Goldman Sachs report titled "2025 Goldman Sachs Summer Intern Survey." Approximately 2,100 summer associate/analyst interns working at Goldman Sachs offices worldwide were surveyed during July 28-August 11, 2025. The survey is conducted annually.
