Constant Contact: A survey conducted by Lightspeed for Kantar found that many Americans check their phones frequently. In fact, 21.4% of females said it never leaves their hands, and almost as many males (19.3%) agreed. What's more, over a third of respondents said they check their device every few minutes.

Online Scams: If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Online buying scams were the biggest type of consumer fraud in 2017, according to the Better Business Bureau's annual scam-tracking report, up from fourth place a year earlier. The rise of digital shopping and growing comfort with sharing personal information online are factors in this growing category of fraud.

Revamped Market: Data from Counterpoint Technology Market Research reveals that the global refurbished smartphone market is growing, increasing 13% year over year in 2017. "Refurbished smartphones are now close to 10% of the total global smartphone market," said Counterpoint research director Tom Kang in a statement. "The low growth of the new smartphone market in 2017 can be partially attributed to the growth of the refurb market."
