The trend: Few consumers use AI tools for the health and wellness activities they participate in, according to a recent survey from Menlo Ventures and Morning Consult of 5,031 US adults in April 2025.
Unpacking the trend: Most consumers engage in various health-related activities but are not using AI to support those efforts.
- For instance, 71% research health questions, but only 14% use AI tools for their health queries.
- 62% plan their workouts; 11% use AI to support this activity.
- Around half track their health and fitness data (55%) and nutrition (46%), but far fewer use AI for these purposes (12% and 11%, respectively).
- 41% seek out mental health and wellness support, while just 9% use AI to do so.
Consumers use AI for routine activities more than for health purposes, the survey found. Writing emails (19%), researching general topics of interest (18%), and managing to-do lists are the top AI use cases tracked in the study.
Digging deeper: Many consumers are interested in or think they will use AI for health reasons even if they aren’t adopting the tech just yet.
- Around 2 in 5 are very or somewhat interested in using AI to find a medical clinic with immediate appointment availability or to treat/diagnose a health issue at home, per a May 2025 survey from Monigle.
