ActiveCampaign links Google Ads to first-party data for AI campaign building

The news: ActiveCampaign launched a Google Ads connector for its Active Intelligence AI engine. It handles Google Performance Max campaign creation directly within its platform via conversational prompts.

  • Available to Plus plan subscribers, the Google Ads connector guides users through setup, from account creation to campaign launch, and is part of ActiveCampaign’s strategy to centralize the marketing tech stack.
  • For new Google Ads customers, a $500 ad credit is available for spending within 60 days.

“For a lot of marketers and business owners, managing digital ad campaigns has meant juggling multiple platforms and spending more time on execution than on strategy,” Chai Atreya, chief product and technology officer at ActiveCampaign, said in a press release

He said the Google Ads connector helps marketers “focus their energy on the strategy and the message—the parts that require their creativity and expertise.”

Why it’s worth watching: Google Ads connector is a leading example of martech evolving from AI-assisted features to truly autonomous systems.

The integration aims to improve return on ad spend (ROAS) by referencing first-party data for richer audience insights. By integrating AI directly into its operational core, the tool tackles a critical challenge head-on—streamlining marketing workflows while maximizing returns.

ActiveCampaign says the tool addresses the “last mile” of marketing execution where marketers and businesses own the strategy and input while AI autonomously handles campaign building, ad copy, image creation, and budget optimization.

Implications for brands: The primary appeal of the Google Ads connector is operational efficiency through automated time-consuming execution tasks. Brands can reallocate time and budget to improve campaign quality and strategic planning.

Pilot the connector with a single campaign or product line before scaling, and measure performance against your existing workflow to validate the efficiency gains.

As AI tools like Google Ads connector become mainstream, brands can compress their marketing toolkits while moving from campaign management to high-level orchestration.
