Consumer cards include retail stored value cards, store cards, gift cards, reloadable cards, customer refund/incentive cards, flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA) cards, mobile phone prepaid cards, and electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards. Commercial cards include ... corporate cards, small-business credit and debit cards, purchasing, travel, fleet and payroll cards, and government-administered benefits cards. Transaction value reported as inside the US is based on the location of the card issuer and thus can include cross-border purchases and purchases while the cardholder is abroad.
Methodology
Estimates are based on the analysis of data from the US Department of Commerce and the Federal Reserve, estimates from other research firms, estimates on card transactions and purchases, reported company payment value figures, consumer buying trends, payment adoption trends and macro-level economic conditions.
