Methodology
Data is from the December 2025 University of Michigan "Surveys of Consumers." A nationally representative sample of US adults was selected through a simple random sample of all postal addresses in the 48 coterminous states and the District of Columbia. Surveys were conducted by telephone and online. Results reflect rolling averages and are indexed to a baseline value of 100 in Q1 1966.Sources
