Respondents were asked, "What percent of your marketing budget are you currently spending on social media? What percent will you spend in the next 12 months? 5 years?"

Methodology

Data is from the March 2023 Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, "The CMO Survey: Managing Brand, Growth and Metrics" commissioned by Deloitte and American Marketing Association. 314 US CMOs were surveyed online during January 10-31, 2023. 97% of respondents were VP-level or above at for-profit companies. Respondents identified their company's business focus as B2B services (27.2%), B2B product (34.6%), B2C product (24.0%), or B2C services (14.1%) with sales revenues of less than $25 million (24.6%) or more than $26 million (75.4%) with number of employees of fewer than 100 (23.6%), or more than 100 (76.4%) from various industries.
