Description
A global survey asked consumers whether they have been spending more time on their smartphones since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak. This chart shows responses for Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, the UK and the US.
Note
Respondents were asked, "Which device(s) have you been spending more time using since the start of the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak?"
Methodology
Data is from the March 2020 GlobalWebIndex report titled "Coronavirus Research Release 3: Multi-Market Research." 12,845 internet users worldwide ages 16-64 were surveyed online during March 16-20, 2020. The survey was conducted in Australia (n=1,004), Brazil (n=1,001), China (n=1,003), France (n=1,016), Germany (n=1,010), Italy (n=1,010), Japan (n=1,079), Philippines (n=1,008), Singapore (n=1,008), South Africa (n=573), Spain (n=1,005), the UK (n=1,040) and the US (n=1,088). Responses in each country have been weighted for age, gender and education level. Given the speed of this survey in response to the coronavirus, some countries had comparatively few responses in the 16-24 or 55-64 age groups. Where necessary, weightings have been combined with adjacent age groups.
