500 retailers in North America were asked about their customer engagement priorities for 2018. This chart shows their responses on a various strategies and actions, including customer identification, personalization, responsive design and social media analytics among others.

Methodology

Data is from the January 2018 BRP (Boston Retail Partners) report titled "2018 POS/Customer Engagement Survey." 500 retailers in North America were surveyed online during November-December 2017. Respondents' titles were primarily directors and vice presidents of store systems or IT and C-level ... executives. Respondents worked for a variety of industries including convenience and fuel (3%), general merchandise (18%), grocery, food & beverage (15%), QSR and restaurants (5%), specialty hard goods (26%), specialty soft goods (28%) and other (5%). Respondents identified their company's annual revenue as less than $100 million (15%), $100-$499 million (18%), $500-$999 million (13%), $1-$4.99 billion (23%), $5-$9.99 billion (10%) and $10+ billion (21%).
