Barriers to Electric Vehicle (EV) Adoption Among Consumers Worldwide, Aug 2024 (% of respondents)

Note

Respondents were asked, "According to you, which factors are preventing you from buying an electric vehicle?"

Methodology

Data is from the October 2024 Capgemini report "Joining the Race: Automotive’s Drive to Catch Up With Customer Experience." 600 automotive executives worldwide were surveyed during August 2024. Respondents were located in China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, the UK, and the US from large automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs, including passenger cars, two- and three-wheelers, trucks, and buses), fleet service organizations, dealers, aftersales organizations, and metal as a service (MaaS) providers (e.g., car rental, taxi, and ridesharing providers). In addition, 10,000 consumers worldwide ages 18+ were also surveyed during August 2024. Respondents were ages 18-27 (25%), 28-43 (33%), 44-59 (24%), and 59+ (18%) located in Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, the UK, and the US.
