Social media users in the US were asked the reasons that they use each social media platform. Responses included to keep contact with friends and family, to strengthen professional network, to get news, to follow brands/companies, to get entertainment and other purposes. Social media platforms ... included Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Periscope.

Methodology

Data is from the September 2019 AudienceProject report titled "Insights 2019: App & social media usage." More than 13,000 internet users ages 15+ in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the US were surveyed online during Q3 2019. Data was weighted to be representative.
