Leading Business Challenges Facing In-Store Retail According to US* Retailers, May 2019 (% of respondents)

Description

US retailers were asked what their top 3 business challenges facing in-store retail were. Responses included online competition, store based competitors, consumer price sensitivity, in-store showrooming and more.

Methodology

Data is from the July 2019 Retail Systems Research (RSR) report titled "The Store In 2019: Fulfilling Orders And Serving Customers." 110 US retail professionals were surveyed online during April-May 2019. Of the retail professionals, 97% had headquarters in the US, 2% in Canada and 1% in Europe. Respondents reported their 2018 revenues as less than $249 million (13%), $250 million-$999 million (40%), $1-$5 billion (34%) and $5+ billion (13%). Respondents represented retailers who sold in the following product categories: apparel/footwear/accessories (24%), boutique retail (2%), FMCG (18%), general merchandise (32%), hard goods (14%) and hospitality/restaurant/retail services/entertainment/other (10%).
