    Data is from the March 2016 RIS News and Gartner, "26th Annual Retail Technology Study: Personalization: It's All About Me!" sponsored by Starmount. 102 US retailers were surveyed online during January-February 2016. The majority of respondents work with the IT department and more than one-fifth is C-suite level. All respondents work for a national or large regional chains. Small mainstreet-type retailers were excluded. The top retail segments represented were apparel/footwear/accessories (21%), department store/mass merchandise/big box discounter (11%), food/convenience/drug (21%), ecommerce (14%) and specialty (34%). Starmount is a in-store mobile technology provider.
