The news: Walmart is continuing its metaverse experiments with a new Minecraft gaming experience.
- The immersive experience, named Skyward, is running from March 21 to May 15, with new chapters released each week.
- The retailer is also selling Minecraft-themed merchandise, including “A Minecraft Movie” exclusives, on a dedicated page on its ecommerce site as well as on the Skyward Discord server.
Walmart is all in: Walmart’s enthusiasm for the metaverse nearly rivals that of Meta. In the past few years, the retailer has launched gamified commerce experiences on Roblox and Zepeto and built its own virtual shoppable world (Walmart Realm).
