TD Bank uses comedy and partial ownership to attract Gen Z investors

The news: TD Bank is attempting to attract younger investors with its “Own It” marketing campaign, featuring comedienne Alyssa Sabo, who plays a quirky young investor who has purchased partial shares in multiple companies, per Marketing Dive.

The ad’s messaging: Sabo’s character acts surprised and impressed that she can be a partial share owner for small sums of money.

  • She walks onto the set of a movie, stating she’s a partial owner of the entertainment company producing it. And onto a baseball field during a game, saying it’s okay because she’s a co-owner because she “bought $5 worth five minutes ago.”
