Ultrafast delivery app downloads exploded worldwide during the pandemic. The top 10 apps in this space were downloaded 23.1 million times collectively in Q1 2022, according to Apptopia. Getir leads by a wide margin, ahead of rivals like Gopuff and Gorillas.

Beyond the chart: Many leading ultrafast delivery apps are also fighting for venture capital (VC), which is shifting elsewhere as adoption slows. But their biggest threat may be the entrance of established apps, such as Uber Eats, into the ultrafast market.

Uber reported delivery revenues grew 24% year over year in Q3 as it continues to push beyond ride-sharing. The company has more cash to burn than its VC-backed rivals, and a larger pool of customers to whom it can sell this service. Like DoorDash and Instacart, Uber is investing in its advertising platform, too, to shore up yet another stream of revenues.
