Pinterest’s spring 2026 search trends favor mini upgrades over remodels

The news: Pinterest revealed its top search trends for spring 2026, and simplicity with a pop of creativity is where the season is headed.

  • Outdoor galore: “Garden inspiration” searches increased 940% YoY as Pinterest users, half of whom are Gen Zers, look for ideas to spruce up their yards.
  • The return of color: Never mind the staid monochromatic homes of recent years; Search activity increased for aubergine, sage green, moody blue, vintage pink, and color-drenching kitchens.
  • Cozy spaces: A big boost in searches for “comfy reading chair small spaces” (up 455% YoY) and “reading nook ideas” (up 245%) highlight the desire for comfortable retreats at home.

But there is a caveat: Pinterest’s report was based on data from January, before the war in Iran and knock-on price increases began. Cost-consciousness will dictate spend, leading to fewer big purchases or major home renovations.

Zooming out: Brands are already experimenting with new hues and lower price points this year.

  • Instead of a new console, Sony released HyperPop PS5 console covers in Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm Blue for $74.99.
  • Apple debuted a more budget-friendly MacBook with the Neo, which comes in Blush, Indigo, Silver, and Citrus and starts at $499 for education buyers.

While the prices aren’t cheap, they’re significant savings over a new console or the MacBook Air, and the colors give users the chance for personalization in a sea of standard tech silver, black, and white.

Recommendations for brands: Pinterest’s search trends indicate an interest among consumers in smaller changes over big projects and personalization over cookie-cutter solutions, giving brands ample opportunities to focus on price messaging and smaller purchases that will have a big impact.

  • Value is key. Ensure written content includes value propositions so search and genAI results surface your brand when consumers are seeking budget items.
  • Focus on mini makeovers. Highlight products that would complement repeat customers’ past purchases, not replace them. Even an email with personalized color palettes could boost purchases.

As consumers pull back on big spending, small purchases can have an outsize effect on well-being. Use AI responsibly to analyze customer data and produce campaigns that are personalized to bring them back for more.
