Patients with medical conditions want pharma companies to offer digital health services

The trend: Patients think that more pharma companies should offer digital health tools to access care, manage their medical conditions, and communicate with doctors, according to a January 2025 survey from ixlayer and Ipsos. Respondents were patients 21+ who have one of the following conditions: asthma, COPD, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, psoriasis, or atopic dermatitis.

Zooming out: Consumers have grown comfortable with using a range of digital health tools, including patient portals (92%), telehealth (82%), pharmacy delivery services (67%), and at-home diagnostic testing kits (62%). Surveyed consumers believe healthcare technology improves engagement with physicians (77%) and is a cost-effective way to maintain their health (73%).

Yes, but: Digital health tools and services are typically made available through a person’s healthcare provider, insurance plan, pharmacy, or tech company.
