More healthcare providers are using AI chatbots to engage with patients

The data: More than 8 in 10 (81%) consumers have used an AI chatbot or voice assistant in the past year when seeking support from a healthcare provider, according to Hyro’s Voice of the Patient report.

  • 1,561 consumers in the US ages 18 and older were surveyed in June 2024.

Digging into the findings: Patients report mixed experiences using AI chatbots and voice assistants when communicating with a healthcare provider, though feedback skews positive.

  • 41% describe their experience as positive.
  • 25% assess their experience as neutral.
  • 15% said they had a negative experience.
