The news: Meta is testing facial recognition in its Facebook and Instagram networks to combat scams and help users recover compromised accounts.
The tech will specifically target scam ads involving celebrities and will also allow individual users to submit video selfies to regain account access if they are hacked.
Meta said it will delete facial recognition data as soon as it’s no longer needed and won’t use it for any other purpose.
