LinkedIn harvested user data without consent, adds opt-out feature in US

The news: LinkedIn revealed that it has been scraping user data without consent, which was exposed through the introduction of an opt-out toggle this week.

  • LinkedIn uses harvested information to train its generative AI (genAI) models as well as models from parent company Microsoft.
  • Opt in is currently set as the default, and opting out now won’t delete the data that LinkedIn has already scraped.
