Klarna’s eBay partnership can boost its growth as a public company

The news: Klarna is available as a payment option on eBay across Europe, rolling out in the UK, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, and the Netherlands after a pilot in Germany, per a press release.

eBay shoppers will be able to pay using Klarna’s Pay in 3, Pay in 30, or big-ticket Financing option.

The bigger picture: Globally, eBay has been shaking up its payment method availability.

Our take: The tie-up with eBay is a big win for Klarna.

  • Globally, eBay’s gross merchandise volume reached $18.3 billion in Q3 2024.
  • And much of its operations are outside of the US: 49% of its revenues in Q3 came from international operations.

The partnership should therefore bring in a strong stream of new volume for the BNPL provider, which will help its overall growth as it prepares to go public. Just in the US, we expect Klarna’s US payment value will grow 21.2% YoY in 2025, per our forecasts.
